Did you know that you can easily make natural Easter egg dyes.....from food scraps?!

What will you need?

All you need to make beautiful pastel colored eggs at home is: - boiled eggs - water - vinegar - and various food scraps!

A rainbow of colors!

A variety of colors are possible using food scraps such as , onion peels, turmeric, coffee grounds, red cabbage, and beets!

Step 1

Pick your coloring agent. (We've picked turmeric for this example).

Step 2

Prepare the dye mixture. Simmer 1 tablespoon of ground turmeric in 2 cups water for 10 to 15 minutes.

Step 3

Add the vinegar. Stir in 1 tablespoon white vinegar and let the dye cool.

Step 4

Add the Eggs. Place the boiled eggs in the cooled egg dye. Let the eggs sit in the dye for 1 to 3 hours.

Step 4 - Continued

The longer the eggs sit in the dye, the deeper the color of the dyed eggs!

Repeat the steps with different food scraps!
